DEALTREE (Best Nuy) Scam on Trade-In

In November, 2016, I decided to trade-in two video games with quoted value of $40 each (total $80). The condition to qualify for the trade-in value was for Dealtree to received the items within 14 days. I mailed the items and the tracking numbered showed that the package containing the two video games were received by Dealtree within the 14 days (approx. 7 days). However, when I checked the status of the trade-in a few days later, it was still showing "waiting to receive." I checked about a week later, still no update on the status, however, I noticed that the value of the trade-in was now going for $11 to $15 each. To make the long story short...two days after my 14 day deadline ended (or approximately 9 days after they received my trade-ins) they finally processed the trade-in, indicating that the items were received after 14 days and will be paid $15 each. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Dealtree was waiting to update my status after the 14 days to cancel the prior agreed value for the video games an set the trade-in value at the newer amount, which is now significantly lower. Hmmm, I wonder whether Dealtree would have paid me at a higher price , if the value had increased after I mailed the item.

I tried to purchase a computer through the dealtree/bestbuy auction site. I won a computer for a total of 282 dollars with tax/shipping included. I tried to pay. they denied my card because they "say" my billing address didnt match my credit card, which is not true,...

I just recently underwent the same issue. I purchased a pressure cooker from their auction site and won it for 42 dollars.

I used my visa on file with enough money to purchase the item, then i get a credit card adress on file does not match error. After a few attempts at changing anything i could think of.. the money from my card disapears. I think hey they took my payment, but i look on the website and it says error please make a payment.

Look back to my bank statement and the moneys gone in the exact amount with no transaction history. Im still attempting to get in contact with them.

Dealtree (Bestbuy) scammers

I was given an estimate of $25 for trading in a digital camera that had only been used for a few months. I professionally packaged the camera with working battery and all cables. It took several weeks for Dealtree (Bestbuy) to process the camera and then I was sent an email stating that the trade in value had been adjusted to $0. The reason given was that the cables and battery were missing. I sent an email to Dealtree disputing this and received a response indicating that the camera was actually damaged and it was a result of "poor" packaging. The email indicated that they would be happy to recycle the camera for me. I requested that they send the camera back. I received the camera with the battery and all cables after about a week and found that the camera was indeed damaged. It looked as though someone had taken a hammer and hit the camera. There was no way the camera was damaged in this way from shipping.

Dealtree is just a scam.

Long story short. I am like all the other people who have posted on this site. I just sent in a SONY laptop that is in working condition and is fully functional and I paid $20 dollars for UPS to wrap it. The original quote was $150, but now I got an email saying that it has no value because it is in working condition and I will have to pay and have it shipped back!? Just scrapping the machine would garner way more money than $0. I hope that this review reaches you in time before you are scammed by this company. Karma will catch up with dealtree one day and I hope that the employees of the company can sleep well at night.

DEALTREE beware! Purchased Macbook Pro 2012 MD103LL/A after winning auction on Best Buy Secondary Markets Auction site (run by DEALTREE), who immediately charged my AMEX.

Wow, was I surprised to open the box and find a *** 2007 Mac ibook A117 in the box! What a rip-off. Joke was on me. I sent the thing back, but of course, DEALTREE had no replacement for my trouble.

Some *** opened their package to find a fabulous upgrade no doubt. Beware auction purchasers--they are scamming or someone in the warehouse in running a scam interchanging the products.

Dealtree

I sent a PS3 in to Dealtree working with a game and controller, as well as necessary cords. They claimed it did not work. I replied there is still value to the parts game and controller. They said their wasn't so I PAID to have my things shipped back to me. I get the PS3 of course it doesn't work they ripped it apart and when I asked for it back they tried to put it back together. I can't even turn it on or off without hoping I am pushing the button down. Then I noticed they destroyed the game. Stay away from Dealtree what a huge scam!!!

Purchased a digital camera and frame and frame does not work. company hasn't helped at all.

I heard about dealtree and this product on TV and deceided to purchased it. I thought they were new, the Kodak (easyshare C140)digital camera and (P725)digital frame, a bundle deal, only to find the digital frame does not work. Tried contacting the company through emails and phone calls and I found that the emails came back unknown and I get the wrong phone number when I called. Would not recommend this company to anyone. Trying to send everything back for a refund. Also posted this on eBay to warn people to beware of dealtree. What a rip off.

:zzz

I google for this type of site with a direct number. Thanks to you guys it worked.

Dealtree on eBay wanted a phone number from me for verification before payment. I did not work with the "call me" option so I called, got customer services....gave one of the three auction Id's' and he fixed it in about 1 sec!

That works for me for fast response with people that know what they are doing. Let wait and see the product now :) cheers Dealtree...great customer service so far!

Dealtree.com aka Bestbuy Scam

So I sent a laptop trade in valued at $177 to Bestbuy aka Dealtree. Once they have it the scam is they claim it has no value and your choice is pay them to send it back or let them recycle it. 99% give up because of the low $ involved and they walk off with pure profit. Pretty disgusting business model. Anyway, I did it because I thought I was dealing with Bestbuy. Yes, Dealtree is a subsidary of Bestbuy BUT I just got off the phone with Bestbuy corporate and they wash their hands of anything Dealtree does. I'm still floored that Bestbuy takes no responsibility for their own subsidary, but you've been warned. Everything says you're dealing with Bestbuy but you're really dealing with a scam front operation called Dealtree.

Cowboom/Dealtree is the worst. Their customer service is a joke.

It takes for ever to get an answer from them, and when they DO respond, it's to tell you that there's nothing they can do about an issue. I hate this company.

#190476

Yes Dealtree's Customer Service in Irvine/Chino California is the worst customer service in existence..... If you want to be told lies, treated like you are a bother to them, and want to believe that they actually do test the items they RESELL from Best Buy Returns -- Then more power to ya!!

They are nothing like the Best Buy model when it comes to customer service and you would think that they would have been corrected by BB corp office in Minn. now that they are a subsidiary..... Maybe right now, BB feels like DT is a stepchild and doesn't want to be bothered with them... I know if I was a BB Corp Exec...

I would have fired every single one of the cust. serv. reps in California -- But, until enough people have had of enough of the lies, the BS they tell you about the reasons why -- YOU -- are having problems with them, the product, lack of service, their HORRIBLE checkout portal, etc, etc... Those idiots in California will continue on acting unprofessional and dealing in unethical ways...

IT's a shame that they are the first connect to the company -- because the folks out at the Dealtree Warehouse in Flower Mound Texas... Do circles around the (makes me laugh everytime I call them this) customer service (yeah, service... whatever) dept for Dealtree and honestly should be the ones operating the customer service dept for the company... I agree with Blue above -- Best Buy owns these monkeys but they haven't put a cage on them yet -- so they are doing as they please, taking money in, sending unchecked, damaged (50/50 chance if the item is really what the listing says it is or even the pictures for that matter)items to you in return.....

Good Luck -- and good riddance to Dealtree!! - ME

Charged my credit card but never sent invoice or product

Purchased a refurbished Apple Experss from Dealtree / Cowboom. After the transaction I received neither an email confirmation nor, as or today (a month later) the product. After emailing both Cowboom and Dealtree, they tell me that they do not have enough information and cannot find my order. This even after giving them the transaction number from my credit card statement. This is at best negligent, at worst fraudulent. Deal with these outfits at your own risk. From now on I will only deal with reputable organizations. I have never encountered anything quite like this in all my years of purchasing things online.

I just bought a mac from them and they say it's in "review process' whatever that means. I called them and she asked why my credit card failed initially...

the one tied to my account didn't have enough credit so I put in another one and paid with that. they already got paid because they removed the money from my acct. still she said, "it in review" process. not to mention the 25.00 7-10 day shipping once it ifnally ships for a mac mini.

I'm starting to get worried it's been 2 days now and so far no email, nothing.

I did save a few bucks from them for sure for the price of the mac, but that remains to be scene. If I don't hear back from them by tomorrow I am gonna file fraud charges.

Dealtree refuses to re-issue a gift card I never received.

I need to warn anyone from using this service. I used Dealtree's Best Buy trade-in website to trade in 7 games all of which had been bought new at some point and cost me plenty of money (approximately $250). Dealtree's estimate site said I would get a $129 gift card to Best Buy. I mailed these games in March, got an email that they were received in April, and the gift card was supposedly shipped in May. NO TRACKING NUMBER OR ANY TYPE OF INSURANCE ON THE PACKAGE. I waited. Never received the package. I called and left a message to which the automatic voice said I would receive a response in 1-business day. I was never contacted. I called again but this time endured the hold time so I could actually talk to someone. I was told that I would be contacted on whether a gift card would be issued. I was never contacted. 2-weeks later I sent an email reiterating everything and I was told the same thing: wait 5-10 days for a re-issued gift card and I will be notified. Again, I was never contacted. 2-weeks later I email again and I am told the gift card they sent was redeemed so they cannot send another gift card. So they strung me along for over a month to eventually call me a thief and a liar. SERIOUSLY? If the gift card was stolen in the mail of course it would have been redeemed. I received no tracking number and Dealtree does not even seem to insure their packages. It could have been stolen anywhere including by dealtree employees. I will stick with brick and mortor stores to make my trades but someone needs to be warned of this unprofessional anti-customer operation.

Dealtree has very poor customer service

I submitted my ipod using UPS to the Best Buy trade-in program on Apr 23, 2010. I received an email that the ipod was received by Dealtree and later that it was lost. The rest is a nightmare. I have personally spoken to Dealtree employees Filo, Ashley, Asher, and Heather. Ashley, Asher and Heather claim UPS is the hold up and that their supervisor Crystal was on the situation. On April 14, I spoke to Heather who claimed the UPS claim was lost by guess who, UPS, and that Crystal has to contact them. Heather advised me to call back on April 16. April 16. Heather promises to call me with the case disposition. She does not. April 20, Ashley repeats exactly what Heather states. I ask to speak with Crystal. Ashley claims her door is closed and she is in a meeting. Ashley goes on to say that crystal is going to tell me the same thing. I say, "that UPS has the claim and no one knows when I will get an answer?" Ashley hangs up the phone. April 20. Asher: He promises to leave a message for crystal to call me and to email me with his findings. He does none of the above. Each employee tells me the exact same thing: "The manager's door is closed and she does not have an email." Asher told me the name of the manager is Crystal Snowgrass" This company makes promises it cannot keep including a 14 day turn around, returning calls and access to management. I will not do business with them in the future and I will be sure to tell others the same. I wonder if Best Buy has the same customer service attitude as Dealtree? I will soon find out when I contact them with my concerns.

Dealtree claims they test items before auctioning, *** !

I bought a digital High-Def Camcorder on U-Bid auction web site from DealTree. They sold it as used but claimed it was thoroughly tested & it came in original box with unopened software, new manual & cables. It did not have a scratch on it, so i felt ok to buy,but when i tried to use it, it did turn on, but that was all. None of the buttons worked & it would not take any pictures at all. There is NO WAY they tested it,even a child could tell that nothing worked. So They Outright LIED ! Now i know why they accepted my low bid, It would be to costly & time consuming to send it back to DealTree & i have read up on complaints on their customer service being the worst. So i will have to eat it on this one. If IT Dosnt Have A Manufacturers Warrenty, DONT BUY FROM DEALTREE !

you guys are full of it. I buy from them all the time, never had any big problem. One time my item was broke when I got it and they sent me a new one and I got to keep the broken one too.

THEY DON't TEST anything -- if you are lucky they might open the box and see if the item is in there -- but that doesn't even happen sometimes -- I have received items from them that were supposed to be (for ex.) a ROUND ball.... and I received a SQUARE BLOCK....

when you contact their oh so great (NOT) customer service --- to tell them you got a SQUARE block and not a ROUND Ball.... the first question is -- do you think it was damaged in shipping or transit??.... WHAT THE ***??..... Yes..

I could ramble on and on about those monkeys in Irvine/Chino, Ca.... Dealtree's worst excuse for a customer service dept ever....

DEALTREE RIPPED ME OFF

Figured I get rid of an unused phone (Sidekick Slide to be exact), being that I have heard about Deal Tree and its "rewards" for a Best Buy certificate, I thought to myself "Why not?". Did the whole registration thing online, they gave me an estimation of the value of the phone, even offered the option of a prepaid label to ship the item to them, which i did. Soon to realize that I had gotten JACKED!!! They sent me an email stating the value of the phone i sent in was worth $0.00...UNBELIEVABLE!!!! So I replied and requested to have my phone shipped back to me because I didn't want to donate it to their company, which I have NEVER receieved a respose. Two days later they (DEALTREE) sent me an invoice charging me $19.30 for shipping, handling and insurance of which i had supposively "AGREED" upon. This place is ***, DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO IT!!!!

Stop me if you've heard this before... I sent my old Toshiba HD DVD player to Dealtree/BestBuy after the site indicated I'd get a best buy gift card in return. The day before I sent it I was watching a DVD on it just fine. So I get the email from them that the disc tray door is broken and does not open. Surprising, considering I wrapped the unit in bubble wrap and packaged the unit in a a laptop shipper w/ the Styrofoam top and bottom - and used the shipping label THEY provided.

So I get it, they don't want to pay me money. Fine then. Lesson learned, just send me back my HD DVD player and we'll part ways. No chance. They now want to charge me shipping to get the unit back - shipping that costs more than the quoted trade in value. Shipping both to and from - even though they offered prepay up front.

If they just send me back the unit then no harm done, I'd just walk away. They've stolen my HD DVD player so now I have to post this message everywhere and tell everyone just because the guy that opened my box decided he wanted to take home an HD DVD player.

Next time stick to Craigslist and local selling. Avoid Dealtree and any of their scams under different names. So I'm out an HD DVD player, but karma will catch up with Dealtree soon enough.

#170118

I'm going through exactly the same thing with Dealtree but it's with a laptop. Apparently they are scammers luring you in with bogus offers then claiming the item has no value and charging you bogus shipping charges if you call them on it.

I'm going to complain to Best Buy and take it all the way to their corporate if I have too since they are supporting this. Wish me luck!

Dealtree=worst customer service

On 1/18/10, I purchased a refrigerator via Dealtree. I had been actively monitoring this product throughout the week and made a special point to watch the auction to ensure that I had the winning bid. I won the refrigerator and was very pleased with my purchase. On 1/19/10, I received an e-mail requesting further information since my billing address did not match my shipping address. I had no qualms about that as I understood Dealtree's policies and faxed in the needed information that very day. I also made a point to call Dealtree to ensure that everything was set up correctly and that I would have no problems down the line. My credit card was charged on 1/19/10 for the amount of $1,697.13. Hence, I was expecting an e-mail informing me of the shipping information. Instead, I received this e-mail: "-Original Message- From: Auctions@***.com [mailto:Auctions@***.com] Sent: Thursday, January 21, 2010 10:55 AM Subject: Refund has been processed Dealtree has credited $1,697.13 to your account. The funds will be returned to the same account you used to make the payment. If this payment was made by PayPal, the funds should be there within 1 business day. If you paid by Credit Card, please allow up to 5 business days for the credit to show in your account. Invoice Number: xxxxxx. Transaction ID number is xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Dealtree Customer Support (KNS) http://www.dealtree.com/mailform.cfm" I was immediately confused by this e-mail and made a call to customer service. The representative told me not to worry and that I just needed to re-purchase the product since there was a mishap with my shipping/billing information. I asked the representative to reference my invoice number to confirm that was indeed the problem. Instead, the rep discovered that my refrigerator had actually been damaged at the warehouse and that I would no longer be receiving my refrigerator. I informed the rep that the exact same product was available via the Dealtree site and asked her if I could just get that one instead. I did not think this would be an issue as it was the same make and model and the bidding auction had not yet begun. She informed me that I would have to go through the bidding process once again and there was nothing that could be done. Previous to speaking with this representative, I had not received any sort of communication informing me of the damaged product or of any problems. I think this is very poor communication and customer service. I spent time researching and monitoring the website to ensure that I received that product. Now, the price was not guaranteed and neither was the refrigerator for which I purchased fairly. I am very disappointed with the way this was handled. To make matters worse, I already paid my credit card company for the bill incurred from the refrigerator. After sending this information to Dealtree customer service, here is the e-mail I received back: From: customerservice@***.com [mailto:customerservice@***.com] Sent: Thursday, January 21, 2010 5:33 PM Subject: FW: Refund has been processed Dear , Thank you for contating us. Unfortunately your item was damaged and could not be shipped. We apologize for this inconvenicne. Thank you, Cherice Dealtree Customer Support http://www.dealtree.net/mailform.cfm Yes...copied the message exactly (with misspellings and all). I tried emailing Dealtree again, but did not receive a response. I will NEVER use Dealtree again and would recommend that others stay away from them as well. If this is an indication of the way they treat their consumers, I'd rather spend the extra money for quality customer service!

I have the same experience with dealtree bad customer service. They screwed up with the shipment of my order, wrong label on the package.

They expected me to pay another shipping charges for the error that their shipping dept.

did and causing the package to be returned to them. AVOID THEM......
